Theres Stud was started by the Pienaar Family in 1996. The Stud was initially pioneered by Dr Koos Pienaar (A Veterinarian and Pathologist) and continued after 5 years by Kotie (A General Surgeon), who named it in honor of his wife Theresa, who is the backbone of the family administration. This shows a typical professional/farmer combination which we think will be the farmers of the future.

The farm location is next to the Vaal River halfway between Orkney and Leeudoringstad, in the Klerksdorp area of the North West Province.

We started the stud with the best possible females bought from Ehlerskroon and Gerhard Bron/Peet Pienaar, and then added VV96318, the best of Frans van den Berg.

VV96318 was unbelievable. Twice the highest priced bull on the National Sale, the first bull to be sold for more than R50 000 and the bull with the highest female retention in the National Herd. We have sold more than 30 of his sons, and he formed the basis of the stud.
